SDP Prepares for 2027 Elections Under Prof. Gombe

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has declared its readiness for the 2027 general elections, with National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gombe announcing plans to contest all elective positions across Nigeria. At the National Convention in Abuja on Wednesday, Gombe emphasized the party's resilience in overcoming challenges, stating, "No individual is bigger than the party." The SDP intends to field candidates for the presidency, 109 Senate seats, 360 House of Representatives seats, 28 governorships, and 1,015 state Houses of Assembly seats.

Gombe revealed that training for party officials is underway across the six geopolitical zones to enhance grassroots mobilization. The party's agenda focuses on four pillars: security, productive employment, social justice, and accountable governance.

Presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo criticized poor leadership for Nigeria's persistent poverty despite its natural wealth, asserting that the country has the resources to thrive. He called for responsible leadership and urged party leaders to initiate door-to-door campaigns in preparation for the elections.
