SDP Promises 50% Women Representation in 2027 Elections

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has pledged to ensure 50% representation for women in appointments and party organizations as part of its manifesto for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by the SDP National Chairman, Sadiq Gombe, during the party's national conference for women leaders at its secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

Gombe, represented by the SDP South-South Deputy Chairman, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, emphasized the party's reorganization efforts ahead of the elections and the importance of women's inclusion in all activities. He stated that the manifesto, which will be unveiled in a few days, aims to provide equal opportunities for women.

Gombe also expressed confidence in the party's presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, who is actively promoting the party's policies. The SDP National Secretary, Olu Agunloye, confirmed that the manifesto is ready and is expected to be launched soon, although a specific date has not yet been set.
