Shehu Buba Accuses Rivals of Image Tarnishing Ahead of 2027

Senator Shehu Buba, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State, has accused his political opponents of circulating manipulated videos intended to link him with alleged bandit kingpins. Buba, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District and is a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, stated that the videos are fake and presented out of context to damage his reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.

He emphasized that he has neither sponsored bandits nor hosted bandit kingpins. Buba has commenced legal action against the individuals behind these allegations, including proceedings in Nigerian courts and the Court of First Instance in Niger Republic.

He criticized the campaign against him as a coordinated attempt to tarnish his image and insisted that legitimate political discourse should focus on policies rather than fabricated allegations. Buba also mentioned that his previous role in the Senate required discretion regarding national security matters, which influenced his initial reluctance to respond to the videos.
