Senator Buba Denies Bandit Links, Calls for Evidence

Shehu Buba, the senator representing Bauchi South and the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, has demanded credible evidence from those accusing him of having links with bandits. He described the allegations as politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Buba urged anyone with evidence to submit it to security agencies or the courts rather than using media channels for what he termed blackmail. He has faced such allegations since 2024, which intensified following videos from content creator D English Alhaji, claiming bandit leaders visited Buba's residence.

A resident named Hassan accused Buba of supporting bandits, alleging connections to notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide. In response, Buba stated he would not be intimidated and emphasized his commitment to lawful efforts against insecurity.

He called for unity in tackling crimes like terrorism and banditry, warning against politicizing the issue. Buba also mentioned his academic background in Peace and Conflict Resolution, advocating for effective non-kinetic approaches to security.
