NDC Urges Atiku to Support Obi for 2027 Election

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and endorse Peter Obi as the party's candidate. This appeal was articulated by Theo Abu Agada, the NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

Agada contended that Atiku's withdrawal would bolster the opposition's prospects of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election. He emphasized that stepping aside would not tarnish Atiku's political legacy but could facilitate the formation of a more robust opposition coalition.

Agada acknowledged Atiku's political achievements and vision for Nigeria, urging him to prioritize the broader interests of the opposition. This development follows Atiku's recent declaration that the 2027 presidential election would be his final contest, regardless of its outcome, which he shared during a Facebook Live session.
