Niger Women Urge Governor's Wife for Christian Inclusion

During a press briefing in Minna, the chairperson of the Northern Christian Women Forum (CNCWF), Grace Zegi, called on Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, the wife of Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, to advocate for the inclusion of Christians in political appointments. The appeal comes as the governor retains a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2027 elections.

Zegi emphasized the need for equitable representation to reflect the state's religious diversity, arguing that the Nigerian constitution does not prohibit faith-based political leadership. She expressed concerns that Christians are often sidelined during political appointments and urged the governor to ensure that all segments of society are represented in his administration.

The forum reiterated its support for the governor's second term while stressing the importance of religious balance in political leadership to foster unity and peace in Niger State.
