No Zoning for Nasarawa Governorship in 2027, Adamu Says

Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, a gubernatorial aspirant from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Inspector General of Police, stated that there will be no zoning for the Nasarawa State governorship seat ahead of the 2027 elections. During a press conference in Abuja, Adamu explained that the direct primary option would allow voters to select candidates without the influence of delegates, which he believes undermines the electoral process.

He criticized the past zoning arrangements that have been in place since the return to democratic rule in 1999, asserting that the people should determine the emergence of candidates. Adamu also addressed the need for prioritizing the state capital, Lafia, and lamented the lack of attention given to local government headquarters by previous administrations.

He expressed confidence that the electoral process would be free and fair, emphasizing that the focus should be on the development of Nasarawa State.
