Kalu: Tinubu Leads 2027 Race After Economic Stabilization

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North and former Chief Whip of the Senate, declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the candidate to beat in the 2027 presidential election. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Kalu argued that the Tinubu administration has stabilized Nigeria’s macroeconomy despite the economic difficulties faced by citizens.

He attributed Nigeria's economic challenges to global disruptions, including the Russia-Ukraine war and tensions in the Middle East. Kalu noted that while macroeconomic indicators have improved, ordinary Nigerians have yet to feel the benefits, acknowledging that the microeconomy remains under pressure.

He linked household challenges to insecurity affecting agricultural production. Kalu defended both President Tinubu and the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, stating that the bishops were fulfilling their role as the nation's moral conscience.

He rated the Tinubu administration's performance at 65 percent and rejected calls for an apology from the presidency regarding comments made by aides.
