Adebayo Criticizes Tinubu's Absence at Peace Accord

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), condemned President Bola Tinubu for his absence at a peace accord event, stating that sending George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as a representative indicates Tinubu's non-commitment to peace in the upcoming 2027 elections. Adebayo emphasized the importance of conducting campaigns based on issues rather than personal attacks or identity politics, advocating for adherence to the Electoral Act.

He expressed a commitment to avoiding violence, hate speech, and vote-buying. Adebayo praised the Peace Committee for its serious approach to fostering peace, contrasting it with the perceived indifference of some government officials.

He argued that peace cannot exist without justice, asserting that electoral justice is essential for achieving peace. Adebayo stated that when he becomes president, he will respect the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and ensure that elections reflect the true will of the voters.
