ADC Rejects Trump's Letter as Shield for Tinubu's Presidency

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday dismissed the Nigerian presidency's celebration of a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to President Bola Tinubu, stating that no diplomatic correspondence could protect the President from the judgment of Nigerian voters.

ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that the Tinubu administration's pursuit of "foreign validation" comes at a time when Nigerians face significant insecurity, economic challenges, and declining living standards. The ADC argued that Trump's letter does not reflect the realities faced by Nigerians and does not address the country's worsening security situation, where many women and children remain captives in Borno and Kwara States.

The party criticized the administration's reliance on international recognition as a measure of success, asserting that the true evaluation of governance lies in the lived experiences of citizens. Furthermore, the ADC pointed out the contradiction between the presidency's celebration of the letter and the U.S. government's ongoing travel advisories for Nigeria, highlighting the persistent threats of terrorism and violence.
