Trump Commends Tinubu's Leadership on Terrorism Efforts

The Presidency of Nigeria has responded positively to a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump, dated July 6, 2026, which commended President Bola Tinubu for his "decisive leadership" in combating terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in relation to attacks on Christian communities.

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He emphasized that the letter serves as further proof of the progress being made by Tinubu's administration.

Bwala stated, “Fact speaks for itself. That’s what it is.

The letter is further proof of the progress we are making,” and clarified that the administration's commitment to addressing these issues would continue regardless of external recognition. He likened the relationship between the U.S. and Nigeria to a personal relationship, where encouragement from one party strengthens the other.
