ADC Critiques Tinubu Over Trump's Letter on Recognition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement on Thursday, criticizing President Bola Tinubu for celebrating a letter from United States President Donald Trump. The ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, asserted that foreign recognition will not guarantee Tinubu another term in office.

They argued that Nigerians will evaluate his administration based on its actual performance rather than diplomatic communications. The ADC described the presentation of Trump's letter as misleading, stating that such correspondence is a normal aspect of international relations and does not equate to an endorsement of Tinubu's governance.

They accused the Tinubu administration of seeking international validation instead of addressing Nigeria's pressing issues, particularly insecurity. The ADC pointed out that Trump's letter does not change the ongoing challenges faced by Nigerians, including insecurity and the continued captivity of women and children.

They also noted that the U.S. Department of State has not altered its travel advisory for Nigeria, which still warns against travel to several states due to crime and terrorism.
