Atiku Abubakar: "Competing with Thieves" for 2027 Election

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed his concerns about the current political climate, stating that he is "competing with thieves." In a video shared on his 𝕏 account, he accused the current administration of stealing the election and the economy, leading to widespread poverty among citizens. Atiku clarified his position on fuel subsidy, asserting that he intends to restore it if elected president in 2027.

He distanced himself from comments made by his media aide, Paul Ibe, who suggested a temporary restoration of the subsidy, stating that those remarks were unauthorized. Atiku emphasized that the removal of the subsidy by the Bola Tinubu administration has exacerbated poverty in Nigeria and reiterated that the government has a fundamental responsibility to ensure the welfare of its citizens.

He affirmed that Nigeria possesses sufficient resources to support its population.
