Labour Party Clarifies Absence from Ibadan Summit

Dr. Philip Agbes, the deputy spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP), clarified that the party was not involved in the opposition summit reportedly held in Ibadan over the weekend.

He stressed that the LP's current focus is on its forthcoming national convention, scheduled for April 28, 2026. Agbes made these remarks during a brief interaction with journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

He highlighted that the party is fully engaged in internal processes aimed at strengthening its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. While other opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), People's Democratic Party (PDP), and New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), deliberated on coalition prospects in Ibadan, Agbes distanced the Labour Party from these discussions, emphasizing the need for internal consolidation and stability.

He noted that building a credible platform is essential for meeting the expectations of Nigerians as political activities ramp up ahead of the next elections.
