Wike Declines Membership in Tinubu Campaign Council

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, declared he cannot be a member of the Tinubu campaign council during a project inspection in the FCT on Saturday. He argued that membership in a campaign council does not guarantee electoral victory, stressing that political relevance is determined by a politician's ability to win their own states, local governments, and wards.

Wike highlighted that "every politics is local" and urged politicians to focus on grassroots voter mobilization for Tinubu instead of vying for positions in campaign councils. He cited examples of prominent figures like Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, and Simon Lalong, who served as Directors-General of campaign councils but failed to secure their home states.

Wike stated that he is not a member of the APC and thus cannot join the Presidential Campaign Council, affirming that he will lead the campaigns in Rivers and the FCT to ensure victory for the presidency.
