Wike-backed PDP faction in Bauchi rejects APM alliance

The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), backed by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has firmly rejected any alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). This decision comes in response to the announcement by the Turaki-led faction of the PDP, which claimed to have merged with the APM.

PDP State Chairman Ibrahim Kashim Toro described this merger as “good riddance to bad rubbish,” asserting that his faction is the legitimate PDP in Bauchi, supported by various court judgments. Kashim stated that those who joined the APM were no longer legitimate members of the PDP due to prior expulsions.

He confirmed that the faction has already fielded candidates for all elective positions in the upcoming 2027 general elections, with their names uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. Kashim urged party members to disregard the factional group's announcement and focus on mobilizing support for their candidates.
