Three Dead, Journalists Injured in Enugu Auto Crash

A tragic motor accident occurred on Saturday morning at Ugwu Onyeama Hill along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The crash involved several vehicles, notably a black Toyota Sienna that was transporting journalists assigned to cover the Igbo Etiti Local Government Area in Enugu State.

Among the injured were crew members from African Independent Television (AIT) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), including NTA Chapel Chairman Chimarok Ugwu and cameraman Gerald Ugwuanyi. The accident highlighted the dangers of the steep terrain in the area, which is known for frequent accidents.

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Enugu State Council Chairman Obinna Ogbuka expressed sympathy for the injured journalists and called for urgent completion of ongoing reconstruction work on the road to prevent further incidents.
