300 Couples Unite in Kebbi's Third Mass Wedding Event

On July 27, 300 couples, comprising 600 brides and grooms, participated in the third mass wedding organized by the Kebbi state government. This initiative, sponsored by the government and facilitated by the Nana Foundation, aimed to support female orphans and widows.

The total cost of the event was N75 million, with each couple receiving N250,000 as bride price. Additionally, the couples were provided with beds, furniture, household utensils, and foodstuffs.

This mass wedding, held in Birnin Kebbi, was the third of its kind organized by the government, which specifically targeted female orphans and allowed divorced brides the freedom to choose their grooms. The event included participants from 225 wards across 21 local government areas in a multi-religious society, welcoming both Islamic and Christian attendees, who met prescribed conditions, including DNA tests.
