Kebbi State Resolves 1,496 Marriage Disputes in 3 Years

Over the past three years, the Kebbi State Ministry of Religious Affairs, under the leadership of Sani Aliyu, has successfully resolved 1,496 marriage disputes as part of efforts to promote peace and strengthen family values in the state. The ministry has also treated 20,000 mental health patients, addressing various issues including economic empowerment for small-scale business owners through a zakat program.

Additionally, the ministry handled cases involving pregnancy outside wedlock, women found in compromising situations, and drug abuse. They distributed zakat worth N160 million and provided meals to 20,000 vulnerable individuals during Ramadan.

Aliyu emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue to foster mutual understanding and religious tolerance. He clarified misconceptions about Sharia law, stating its purpose is to protect rights and promote decency in society.

The ministry's initiatives reflect a commitment to community development and mental health support, with Governor Nasir Idris commended for establishing the ministry.
