Kebbi Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Mass Wedding Scheme

On Monday, during the 2026 mass wedding ceremony for 300 couples at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris reaffirmed his administration's commitment to sustaining the annual free mass wedding programme.

The initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burden of marriage for vulnerable families. Governor Idris pledged to enhance the programme, stating, “I will continue to put more effort into this initiative to ensure that more less-privileged people benefit from it.” He praised his wife, Hajiya Nafisa Idris, for leading the initiative through her foundation.

The governor also encouraged support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, linking the President's policies to developmental gains in the state. Each bride received a dowry of ₦200,000, and the governor provided household items to assist the newlyweds.

The marriage was solemnized according to Islamic rites, with prominent Islamic scholars delivering sermons on marriage virtues.
