Lagos Launches School Feeding Program for 30,000 Pupils

The Lagos State Government, in partnership with Renew Hope Nation, has launched a school feeding initiative aimed at benefiting 30,000 public primary school pupils. This program, tagged "Adopt a School Snack," is designed to provide daily nutritional support to reduce classroom hunger and improve learning outcomes.

The pilot phase is scheduled to run from June 30 to July 2, during which selected pupils will receive nutritious snacks and beverages every school day. Aderemi Adebowale, the program manager, emphasized the importance of addressing hunger's impact on children's ability to learn, stating that inadequate nutrition hinders their potential.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renew Hope agenda, focusing on human capital development and ensuring that hunger does not become a barrier to education. The program also features a digital dashboard for transparency and accountability, allowing sponsors to monitor their contributions and the impact on pupils.

Abisola Olusanya, the Commissioner for Agriculture, urged stakeholders to support local farmers to provide food supplies for the initiative.
