Free School Meals Boost Kaduna Pupils' Enrollment to 40%

Fauziya Buhari Ado, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani, disclosed that 40% of pupils currently enrolled in public schools in Kaduna State attend due to the free school feeding program. This initiative is part of a strategy to reduce the number of school children, particularly almajiri pupils, who are often vulnerable.

Ado made this statement while receiving an award for excellence in educational advancement from the Correspondents' Association of Nigeria. She commended Governor Uba Sani's educational reforms and called for sustained support for the school feeding program.

The initiative has been recognized for tackling challenges faced by school children, especially among the almajiri population, which requires urgent reform. Ado noted that the program has become a major incentive for enrollment and retention, with parents reporting that children benefit significantly from the meals provided.

The Kaduna State Government aims to improve educational outcomes for children from poor and vulnerable households through this program.
