Lagos Launches 'Snacks for Thought' Breakfast Initiative

On Tuesday, the Lagos State Government, represented by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, launched the 'Snacks for Thought' school breakfast initiative in collaboration with the Federal Government. This initiative aims to provide nutritious breakfast meals to primary school pupils, thereby improving school attendance and academic performance.

The program is part of a public-private partnership designed to enhance the welfare of schoolchildren in Nigeria. Abimbola Salu Hundeyin, the Secretary to the State Government, emphasized the importance of strategic investments in the future of Nigerian children, stating that addressing hunger is essential for reducing poverty.

She noted that collective efforts are crucial for achieving sustainable development in Lagos State and welcomed partnerships with private organizations and NGOs to support children’s welfare. The initiative is a renewal of hope for the nation’s home-grown school feeding program, reinforcing the idea that building the nation is a shared responsibility, not solely that of the government.
