46 Arrested Following Attack on Peter Obi's Convoy

Operatives of the Benue State Police Command arrested 46 suspects related to the attack on the convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu announced the arrests on Wednesday, stating that investigations are ongoing, with efforts to track down key leaders of the youths involved in the incident.

Nwadiogbu warned against political intolerance as the general election approaches, affirming that the police will take necessary actions to identify all individuals involved and ensure that those found culpable face legal consequences. The incident occurred when Obi's convoy was blocked on the Makurdi-Gboko federal highway while en route to Yelwata, where he planned to meet and commiserate with victims of attacks that occurred in June 2025.
