Youths Hospitalized After Attack on Peter Obi's Convoy

On Tuesday, more than 10 youths were hospitalized after a confrontation involving the convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Benue State. The injured were taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi for medical attention.

Obi was traveling towards Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area to sympathize with families affected by a deadly attack in June 2025. An official from BSUTH confirmed that over 10 wounded individuals were treated, but it was unclear if they were directly involved in the incident.

The NDC claimed that one of the youths involved in the confrontation died while receiving treatment, a statement made by the party's publicity secretary, Agile-Bem Jabez Ordedoo. The claim of death could not be independently verified.

Obi's convoy was reportedly stopped by youths chanting against him, leading to him abandoning the journey.
