Legal Battles Intensify Ahead of Nigeria's 2027 Elections

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, major political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) are facing numerous court cases that could influence the electoral landscape. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to publish the final list of candidates in September, pending court decisions.

The ADC is currently battling a deregistration suit, while the NDC is involved in two court cases challenging its leadership and registration status. Notably, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is the presidential candidate for the NDC, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar represents the ADC.
