Lagos State Reports 6,000 Exposed Manholes, Safety Risks

The Lagos State Government has raised an alarm regarding 6,000 exposed manholes across the state due to stolen covers, which pose significant dangers to road users. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration has successfully replaced 4,000 of these covers with fiber materials.

Special Adviser Olufemi Daramola emphasized the need for collaboration with stakeholders and the public to safeguard government properties and prevent further vandalism. Dr.

Adekunl Olayinka provided insights into the state’s efforts to monitor construction materials, revealing that 4,649 concrete tests were conducted last year, with a compliance rate of 46.9 percent. The administration has completed 362 roads spanning 347 kilometers since 2019 and is executing major investments in healthcare, education, and public safety.

Ongoing projects include the construction of a 280-bed general hospital and a 1,500-bed psychiatric hospital. The government aims to enhance infrastructure and public services to support Lagos's rapidly growing population.
