87-Year-Old Arraigned for Attempted Murder of Judge

Dahiru Garba, an 87-year-old man from Korawa village, was arraigned by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly attempting to murder Hon. Dauda Hamman, the presiding judge at Mayo-Ine Area Court in Fufore Local Government Area. The incident occurred on 31st August 2026, when Garba attacked the judge with a cutlass, causing grievous injuries by cutting his hand.

Following the attack, police operatives arrested Garba, and the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola on 4th September 2026 for further investigation. On 8th September 2026, Garba was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court I in Yola, presided over by Chief Magistrate Ismail Bello Shelleng, on a one-count charge of causing grievous hurt, contrary to Section 219 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State, 2018.

Garba pleaded guilty, attributing his actions to the devil and expressing deep regret. The court ordered his remand at the Yola Correctional Facility pending further hearings.
