Aaron Akerejola Confirmed as SWAN Lagos Chairman

Aaron Akerejola has officially been recognized as the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) during a live interview on July 17, 2026. This announcement was made by Isaiah Benjamin from Aris TV.

The previous leadership, including chairman Olatutu Oladunni and secretary Bello Omotund Muritala, was suspended due to gross misconduct, as stated in a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, dated October 2, 2025. The decision to suspend was based on Article 21, Section 1(c) of the SWAN statutes.

The letter instructed the suspended members to return SWAN properties and documents. Akerejola's leadership is now in effect, and any dealings with the suspended members will be at the risk of those involved.

The SWAN is set to conduct new elections for its leadership soon.
