Abia State Government Enforces Relocation of Aba Mechanics and Auto Parts Dealers

The Abia State Government has initiated a full-scale enforcement operation to relocate mechanics and auto parts dealers from major streets in Aba to the Ovom Mechanic Cluster by the October 15, 2025 deadline. Led by officials like Mike Akpara and Uch Wogu, the enforcement team sealed shops and moved traders to designated areas like Jubilee Road and School Road.

Despite some resistance, the government assures traders of a better business environment. However, some artisans like Okechukwu Mathew have expressed support for the relocation, while others plea for more time until December.

The state government, through a joint team, rejected the appeal and set a January 2026 deadline for the move.
