Abia Man Faces Charges for Assaulting Woman Over Soup

Agwu Ukpo, a 37-year-old man from Akanu Ohafia in Abia State, is set to face prosecution for attempted murder and assault following an incident involving Amarachi Chinyer. The Abia State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended after a viral video surfaced, showing the alleged attack on Chinyer during a dispute over a pot of soup in Ohafia Local Government Area.

The police confirmed that the suspect was arrested based on intelligence gathered by the Violent Crime Response Unit. Chinaka emphasized the command's commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violence and condemned the incident as a barbaric and inhuman act of domestic violence.

She warned the public against engaging in any form of abuse and reiterated that the police would take necessary actions to hold perpetrators accountable. The investigation is ongoing, and Ukpo will be charged in court upon its conclusion.
