Abia Police Arrest Man for Alleged Rape of Minor

Njoku Stephen was arrested by the Abia State Police for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Ebem Ohafia. The incident reportedly occurred when the girl went to the kitchen for water, and after she informed her parents, the community reacted strongly.

Women from Ebem Ohafia staged protests demanding justice and condemning the sexual abuse of minors, describing the incident as disturbing and unacceptable. Chief Ifeanyi Okali Eodu, representing the Ebem Ohafia Development Union, reiterated a zero-tolerance stance against any form of abuse and exploitation of children.

The union called for community cooperation to protect the welfare of children and urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information that could prejudice the ongoing investigation. The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has also become involved in the case, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and adherence to due process.

The matter remains under investigation by relevant law enforcement agencies.
