Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun Enacts Education Fund Law

On September 20, 2026, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun signed the State Education and Skills Trust Fund Bill into law at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. This legislation creates a framework for sustainable funding and improved management of the education and skills development sector in Ogun State.

Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, stated that the law aims to enhance the quality and outcomes of education in the state, following extensive consultations with stakeholders.

He emphasized the necessity for private-sector involvement in funding education. Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, noted that the Trust Fund would support both formal and informal education, focusing on skills acquisition and vocational development.

The law is expected to provide additional financing for critical areas such as school infrastructure and teacher support, and it will strengthen the integration of informal education into the state’s education system.
