Abiodun Urges Ogun Monarchs to Ensure Peaceful Elections

On Tuesday, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, inaugurated Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas. During the event at the Obas’ Complex in Abeokuta, Abiodun called on traditional rulers to leverage their influence to encourage peaceful and responsible participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

He stressed the importance of educating citizens on civic participation while discouraging violence and thuggery. Abiodun described the 2027 elections as a crucial democratic transition, highlighting that democracy's strength is reflected not just in votes but in the peace and responsibility exhibited by citizens.

He acknowledged the role of traditional institutions in ensuring a stable electoral environment and praised the monarchs for their support in community mobilization and security efforts. Abiodun noted that his administration has worked to mitigate political thuggery and emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the government and traditional rulers to uphold peace and development in Ogun State.
