ABU Centre Launches Training in Sustainable Procurement

The ABU Centre in Zaria, led by Professor Wisdom Japhet, is initiating a training program focused on sustainable procurement practices. This program aims to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and tools to integrate environmental and social standards into procurement processes.

Professor Maikudi Yusuf, the Centre's coordinator, highlighted that the training will address both theoretical and practical aspects of procurement, ensuring participants gain hands-on experience. Engr Lawal Salisu emphasized the importance of aligning procurement processes with global environmental and social standards.

Participants, including Muham Aliyu and Adeyemi Monisad, noted that the knowledge gained would significantly improve the efficiency and accountability of procurement processes. The program, coordinated by Lara Olaniyi, offers valuable insights into integrating environmental considerations into everyday professional activities.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to produce highly skilled environmental procurement specialists and address identified skill gaps, supported by the World Bank and the National Universities Commission.
