SPP Trains 40 Abuja Teachers on Climate Education

Society Planet Prosper (SPP) conducted a workshop in Abuja to equip 40 secondary school teachers from the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) with skills for environmental education, focusing on climate change literacy. The event, held in partnership with the Secondary Education Board (SEB), was led by SPP President Prof.

Chukwumerij Okereke. The training is part of a broader initiative to enhance climate education across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and aims to enable teachers to instruct students effectively, fostering the formation of climate clubs in schools.

Mr. Abdullahi Zakir, Director of Science, Technology, and Mathematics at SEB, highlighted the importance of this training in addressing climate change issues, which directly impact school communities and future generations.

The workshop emphasized the need for educators to understand the science behind climate change and to nurture responsible leaders for the future. Mr.

William Eba, Vice Principal of Government Secondary School, noted the significance of raising ecological awareness among students to maintain a sustainable environment.
