ABU Mourns Dr Umar Sani Bebeji After Fatal Accident

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria is in mourning following the death of Dr Umar Sani Bebeji, a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, who died in a road accident on the Kaduna–Zaria Expressway on Saturday at approximately 9 a.m. The accident occurred at Dumbin Rauga.

Dr Bebeji, aged 45, was a dedicated academic and served as the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law and Coordinator of the ABU Law Clinic, where he significantly contributed to clinical legal education and access to justice for underserved communities. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Originally from Bebeji Local Government Area in Kano State, Dr Bebeji spent much of his childhood in Tudun Wada, Kaduna. He was buried at Kwanar Chanchangi Cemetery in accordance with Islamic rites.

Colleagues and former students praised him as an accomplished scholar and a humble mentor. Reports indicate he had recently returned from the lesser pilgrimage (Umrah) before the tragic accident, prompting an outpouring of grief within the university community.
