Abuja-Lokoja highway gridlock eases as FRSC opens 2nd lane

The Abuja-Lokoja highway gridlock has eased as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) opened a second lane for traffic flow. The gridlock, which began on Sunday, was finally tackled after drastic measures were taken.

Mr. Kumar Tsukwam, the FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, stated that a meeting was held with the Federal Ministry of Works and a construction company along the route to find possible solutions.

Part of the contractor's work included creating an alternative road to ease vehicular movement and reduce the gridlock in the area. The FRSC deployed personnel to the axis and urged motorists to display maturity and discipline while driving to avoid a reoccurrence of the gridlock.

The gridlock, caused by lane violations, indiscipline, and impatience among motorists, had inconvenienced many travelers spending up to eight to ten hours on the Abuja-Lokoja route.
