Baze University Launches Major Aviation School in Abuja

Baze University in Abuja is advancing the establishment of a dedicated Aviation School at its Bwari campus, aimed at addressing the persistent shortage of aviation training capacity in Nigeria and across Africa. The project is being developed on approximately 88 hectares of land and is nearing completion.

The infrastructure will feature a runway specifically for flight training, a hangar, a terminal building, classrooms, aviation laboratories, and various training facilities. The university announced it will commence flight operations with two training aircraft, providing students with practical exposure alongside theoretical instruction.

On February 2026, Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus met with a Baze University delegation led by Founder and Chancellor Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, pledging support for the project, including expediting regulatory processes. The planned runway is expected to be the longest university-owned runway dedicated to pilot training in Nigeria.

The Aviation School is part of a broader vision to build specialized capacity in critical areas for Nigeria and Africa.
