Provost of Yola College Calls for Upgrade to University Status

Dr. Mohammed Usman Degereji, the Provost of Federal College of Education Yola, called on the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to upgrade the institution to Federal University of Education Yola. This appeal was made during the 16th combined convocation of the college held in Yola.
Degereji highlighted that since its establishment as a Federal Advanced Teachers College in 1974, the institution has produced quality teachers and has been granted a dual mandate to award both degrees and NCE. He argued that the upgrade would better position the college for future challenges.
Minister of Education Dr. Mourufu Alausa supported this call, stating that the Tinubu administration recognizes education as a fundamental pillar of Nigeria's development and is implementing various policies to improve educational quality. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Kalerapwa Farauta, reiterated his administration's support for federal tertiary institutions in the state.
