ADC Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Election Victory

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) congratulated Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, on his victory in the governorship election held on Saturday. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the result as a triumph for democracy and the people of Osun, achieved despite alleged intimidation and misuse of government resources by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ADC commended opposition parties for their collaboration in overcoming what it termed APC tyranny. The party claimed that over 30 state governors and other high-ranking officials were mobilized to support the APC during the election, yet voters demonstrated resilience against intimidation.

The ADC expressed concerns regarding the suspension of result uploads on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal, alleging that this occurred after it became evident that the APC was losing. The ADC demanded a full explanation from INEC regarding this interruption, which lasted nearly four hours, and warned that such incidents could foreshadow challenges in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
