Key Political Figures Meet at ADC Convention in Abuja

On Tuesday, during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention, prominent political figures including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal convened at the residence of Senator David Mark for a strategic meeting. The ADC convention, which aims to finalize preparations for the party's congress and ratify a new constitution, has drawn around 3,000 delegates from across Nigeria.

However, the event faced significant challenges, including security concerns that led to several private venue owners declining to host the convention due to alleged external pressures and threats. This situation has caused considerable financial losses for private operators, as expressed by Chinedu Idigo, the party's national organizing secretary.

The convention is set to conclude with the ratification of the new constitution, paving the way for the party's primaries.
