ADC to Appeal Court Ruling on Caretaker Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced its intention to appeal a ruling made by the Appeal Court in Abuja, which upheld a Federal High Court judgment that restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the party's caretaker leadership led by David Mark. The Appeal Court's decision, delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on April 29, confirmed that the caretaker leadership's conduct of state congresses was null and void, violating an earlier court order.

The ADC stated that this ruling does not affect the party's direct primaries, and candidates have already emerged from this process. The party's statement, signed by its National Public Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, reassured members and the public that the judgment would not impact the direct primaries.

The ADC has commenced the process of appealing the judgment, expressing disagreement with the ruling and urging members to remain calm.
