ADC Critiques Rising Petrol Prices Impacting Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) expressed concern over the rising cost of petrol, which has reached N1,470 per litre, significantly affecting the livelihoods of Nigerians. In a statement released on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party noted that the increase in fuel prices has led to higher costs for transportation, food, and other essential needs.

The ADC reported that private schools have raised fees by 30 to 40 percent, while salaries have not increased correspondingly, placing additional financial strain on families. The party emphasized that the current economic policies are making life increasingly difficult for the majority of Nigerians, with families forced to make tough choices between basic necessities.

The ADC called for a reassessment of economic reforms, advocating for policies that improve welfare rather than just presenting favorable statistics. The party also reiterated the commitment of its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to reduce petrol prices through domestic fuel production and urged President Tinubu to take immediate action to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens.
