ADC Critiques Tinubu's CNG Transport Initiative as Gimmick

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being in "panic mode" following his recent initiative to expand CNG-powered transportation to reduce transport fares. In a statement from the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the move as a "political gimmick" that comes three years too late.

The ADC criticized the emergency meeting between Tinubu and state governors, suggesting that their actions were merely reactions to opposition plans for targeted production subsidies. They questioned why expanding CNG transportation was not part of the initial subsidy removal plan, highlighting that Nigerians have suffered from high transport fares for three years.

The ADC emphasized that the government's sudden focus on transportation costs is politically motivated, coinciding with the electoral season and the opposition's push for targeted subsidies. They asserted that if such interventions were possible now, they should have been implemented earlier, indicating a lack of genuine concern for citizens' suffering.
