Melaye Accuses Bala of Commercializing Conscience in ADC

Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi West, has publicly accused Nafiu Bala, the embattled faction chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), of "commercializing his conscience." This accusation was made during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday night, following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on July 29, 2025. During this meeting, Bala was present as the party sought to endorse a new leadership structure, which included the ratification of David Mark as the interim national chairman.

Melaye further alleged that Bala's current leadership contest was a result of his participation in the NEC meeting that endorsed the new leadership. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the NEC meeting, and Melaye claimed that Bala's actions were questionable, particularly regarding the legitimacy of David Mark's position, which was certified by INEC on May 29.

Bala has since taken legal action, filing a court case on September 2, 2025, following the ratification of Mark's chairmanship by INEC.
