ADC Youths to Protest INEC in Lagos, Ogun, Jigawa

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Balarab Rufai, has announced plans to stage protests in Lagos, Ogun, and Jigawa states. The protests, tagged "Occupy INEC," aim to demand accountability from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding its adherence to the rule of law.

The Lagos protest is scheduled to commence on April 8 at Yaba College of Technology, while the Ogun protest will start on April 11 at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company office in Abeokuta. Rufai emphasized that these demonstrations are a response to perceived injustices and follow earlier protests held in Abuja on April 1, which included notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ADC National Chairman David Mark.

The protests are linked to INEC's decision to derecognize a faction within the ADC, following a court appeal judgment that directed the party to maintain the status quo in its leadership dispute. The ADC youth also demand the removal of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan.
