Adeduntan to be Installed as Balogun of Oyo on Sept 5

Oloye (Dr) Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan is set to be installed as the new Balogun of Oyo on Saturday, September 5, 2026, by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I. This ceremony was initially scheduled for July but was postponed due to the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, an incident that resulted in the tragic loss of two lives.

Adeduntan succeeds the late Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a former Governor of the old Oyo State, who held the Balogun title with distinction. The Balogun title is one of the most senior offices in the Oyo Empire, associated with leadership and public service.

Dr Adeduntan, born in Ibadan, holds a DVM from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Cranfield University. He has held significant roles at Arthur Andersen, KPMG, Citibank, and served as GMD/CEO of FirstBank from January 2016 to April 2024.

He founded Sequoia Holdings Limited and the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, focusing on healthcare and education. In 2025, he was appointed Pro-Chancellor of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
