Adeleke Wins Second Term in Osun Governorship Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has won a second term in office after defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner after he garnered 511,067 votes, surpassing Oyebamiji's 444,815 votes.

The election, held amid significant political rivalry, saw strong support for Oyebamiji from prominent APC figures, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Despite the APC's efforts to reclaim control of Osun State, Adeleke's victory margin was 66,252 votes.

Following the announcement, President Bola Tinubu personally called Adeleke to congratulate him, commending the electoral process's integrity while acknowledging some reported incidents of violence. The election was characterized as a major political battle, with the APC aiming to regain the governorship from Adeleke.
