Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election, Thanks Tinubu

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, was declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission at approximately 7:24 am on Sunday. He received 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 out of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won in 11. Najeem Salam of the African Democratic Congress finished third with 17,180 votes.

This victory secures Adeleke a second term in office after previously being elected governor in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party before switching to the Accord Party for this election. In a video statement, Adeleke thanked President Bola Tinubu for his congratulatory call and expressed his expectation for a congratulatory call from Oyebamiji, stating, “This is no victor, no vanquished.” He attributed his confidence in winning to his faith, affirming, “I have a God who never fails.”.
